The Legacy of The Glenlivet

The story of The Glenlivet began in the remote, mist-shrouded Livet Valley—a perfect sanctuary for illicit distillation. It was here that founder George Smith perfected his craft before making history in 1824 as the region’s first legally licensed distillery.
By 1884, after a landmark legal battle to protect its reputation for superior quality, the distillery earned the exclusive right to be called "The Glenlivet."
