Teeling Blackpitts Peated Irish Whiskey

Located in the heart of the historic Liberties, against the backdrop of a city steeped in whiskey history, the Teeling Whiskey Distillery opened its doors in 2015 as the first new distillery in Dublin for over 125 years. Whiskey making and entrepreneurship have been in the Teeling genes since as far back as 1782 when Walter Teeling set up a small craft distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin city. Since 2012, Jack and Stephen Teeling, the latest generation of Teeling Whiskey makers, have been putting their own mark on Irish whiskey and came full circle when they proudly opened the new Teeling Whiskey Distillery just down the road from where the original family distillery once stood.

Inspired by the old ancient Blackpitts area just behind the new Teeling Whiskey Distillery based in Newmarket, this release has the signature of a Peated Single Malt using smoke from peat to dry the barley during the malting process. However, what makes Teeling Blackpitts so unique is the triple distillation process combined with signature Teeling innovative cask maturation using both ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes white wine casks to produce a truly different and unique expression.

Nose:    Barbeque smoke and cloves are intermingled with fresh notes of butterscotch and orange peel.

Taste:    A fascinating blend of Applewood smoke, honey and all spice are married with stewed pears and fresh grilled pineapple.

Finish:    A savoury smoke over a lingering wood undertone, which combines delightfully with notes of salted caramel.
