Penderyn The Headliner Icons of Wales Single Malt Whisky

Part of the Icons of Wales series from Penderyn, Copperopolis is the 9th instalment, released in 2022. This release was named 'The Headliner' after David Lloyd George (1863-1945), the only Welsh Prime Minister, who was a social reformer and accidentally established the premium whisky industry. He became a symbol of the national reawakening of Wales and created more headlines than any other 20th century statesman.
This Welsh whisky was matured in Jamaican rum & Ruby Port casks.

    Nose:    Red berries, strawberries and cream, a hint of cranberries, light oak, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon spice.

    Taste:    Rich sweet flavours of dried fruits, salted caramel, floral honey and a spicy kick of black pepper with a tannin dryness.

    Finish:   Sweetness, fading into a dry yet fruity finish.

Penderyn is a Welsh whisky distillery and brand, producing the first commercially available whisky made in Wales since the 19th century. Penderyn produce award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits at their distillery on the foothills of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, Wales, UK. They opened two other distilleries in Llandudno (2021) and Swansea (2023).
Produced at the Penderyn Distillery (the Welsh Whisky Company), Penderyn is a Single Malt Whisky produced in several expressions, e.g. Madeira Finish, Peated, Sherrywood and Portwood.
