Nikka Coffey Malt 90th Anniversary Edition Single Malt Whisky

Coffey Malt Single Malt  Japanese Whisky presented in a Limited Edition case, released to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Nikka Whisky.
Although it is made from 100% malted barley, Nikka Coffey Malt is classified as a grain whisky due to its particular distillation method, by the use of Coffey column stills, usually reserved for grain whiskies. This process gives this whisky a rich and creamy texture, which stands out for its roundness and depth, offering a unique and surprising experience.

Nose:    Fruity with citrus and pear, notes of vanilla.

Taste:    Plum, raisins with vanilla and praline.

Finish:    Medium-long, plum and hints of liquorice.

Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, a former Suntory employee who had studied at the University of Glasgow, and later trained as a blender at the now lost Hazelburn distillery in Campbeltown. Taketsuru opened the Yoichi distillery in the same year as establishing the company, followed by the Nishinomaya and Miyagikyo distilleries in 1959 and 1969, respectively. Since 1989 the company has also had a stake in the Scotch whisky industry after they purchased the struggling Ben Nevis distillery. Today they are one of the second largest whisky producer in Japan.
