Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release 18 Year Old
The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release is a 2026 Limited Edition marking 55 years since the premiere of James Bond ‘Diamonds Are Forever’.
The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team have created a whisky to reflect the story arc of the film. The whisky was distilled in 2007 and matured for 18 years. A novel exploration of Macallan’s innovative nature and an expression of the film’s narrative where not everything is as it seems, Whisky Maker Russell Greig completes the cask selection of this whisky with bespoke hybrid sherry seasoned oak casks – custom-made casks crafted from both European and American oak staves in one singular cask.
The packaging design offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative development of the film.
Nose: Sophisticated notes of sweet polished oak, vanilla bean and rich dried fruits.
Taste: A smooth and welcoming introduction of creamy vanilla and caramel, with hints of cocoa powder coated champagne truffles, coffee, dried fruit like figs, berries and apricots. Subtle spices follow creating a complex profile.
Finish: Long and refined with a lingering warmth.
Macallan was one of the first distillers in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then, Macallan has built a reputation as one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies. The creation of The Macallan draws on the vital contributing influences of Spain, North America and Scotland - and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship.
The Macallan distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. The original name of the area was “Maghellan”, taken from the Gaelic word “magh”, meaning fertile ground and “Ellan”, from the Monk St.Fillan - who held a close association with the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had been making whisky on their Speyside farms in the area for centuries, using their surplus barley during the quieter winter months.
