Glenturret Triple Wood 2020 Maiden Release Single Malt Whisky

Originally owned by Sir Patrick Murray of Ochtertyre, The Glenturret Distillery is mentioned in the purchase records of the Barony of Ochtertyre as far back as 1763. Today, the distillery still nestles in its original location on the edge of the historic town of Crieff. Known locally as ‘The Hosh’ (Gaelic for ‘the foot’) – it is a picturesque and secluded setting at the foot of green rolling hills in the lower glen overlooking the river Turret.
Glenturret’s dedication to traditional handcrafted Whisky Making, slow batch production, and an unusually slow distillation in hand-beaten copper stills combine to influence and underpin the unique character of their new make spirit. It is a spirit that they can nurture and enrich over time; that will work with the wood, not against it; a spirit shaped by hand and heart.

The Glenturret Triple Wood 2020 Maiden Release is a delicate whisky that showcases the sweet and distinctive fruity style of Glenturret’s new make spirit. A thoughtful combination of European and American Sherry Oak casks alongside Bourbon barrels gives a light and subtle whisky adding a depth of character and a rich, golden colour.

Nose:     Intensely spicy first impression that tingles the nose a little. Oak, spicy caramel, toasted aromas. And even some ginger in the nose. Over time it becomes fruity and significantly sweeter. Candied apple. Lots of toffee.

Taste:     Mild and pleasant response on the tongue. Spicy oak, caramel, bread. A little tobacco.

Finish:    Rather short. Pleasantly warming. Some leather.
