Glenturret 12 Year Old 2022 Release Single Malt Whisky

Originally owned by Sir Patrick Murray of Ochtertyre, The Glenturret Distillery is mentioned in the purchase records of the Barony of Ochtertyre as far back as 1763. Today, the distillery still nestles in its original location on the edge of the historic town of Crieff. Known locally as ‘The Hosh’ (Gaelic for ‘the foot’) – it is a picturesque and secluded setting at the foot of green rolling hills in the lower glen overlooking the river Turret.
Glenturret’s dedication to traditional handcrafted Whisky Making, slow batch production, and an unusually slow distillation in hand-beaten copper stills combine to influence and underpin the unique character of their new make spirit. It is a spirit that they can nurture and enrich over time; that will work with the wood, not against it; a spirit shaped by hand and heart.

Fewer than sixty carefully selected casks come together to create The Glenturret 12 Years Old - crafted by hand and forming the heart of Glenturret’s range. American oak hogshead casks drive the dessert like sweetness whilst European oak layers the dried fruits and spices leading to a full rich single malt.

Nose:     Nutty barley, vanilla custard, and fruit studded biscuits, with delicate spices building in the distance.

Taste:     Cinnamon buns with dustings of sugar are followed by plump raisins, spiced apple, and cream-filled pastries. Gingery warmth develops alongside rich toasted oak.

Finish:    Dense oak brings notes of runny caramel, rich char, and more creamy vanilla, finishing up with spiced, buttered fruit loaf and a touch of zest.
