Bruichladdich Octomore 16.4 5 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Octomore is the super-heavily peated single malt produced by Bruichladdich distillery, the most routinely heavily peated in the world. The whisky is named after the farm of the same name, located on a hillside north of the town of Port Charlotte. Having been traditionally an un-peated single malt due to the needs of its former owners for their blends, Murray McDavid were quick to diversify the Bruichladdich portfolio, also introducing the more lightly peated Port Charlotte and Lochindaal.
This Limited Edition Octomore 16.4 was distilled in 2019 from the 2018 harvest using 100% Concerto barley, Islay. Full term maturation in bourbon and French virgin oak.

Nose:    Intense smoke gives way to the rich, caramelised sweetness of toasted virgin French oak. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove intertwine with baked apples and pears drizzled with honey. Peat remains a constant and powerful presence, winding its way through the oak and spice.

Taste:    Toasted oak, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, and a hint of sweet smoke. Stewed apples and pears balance the oak’s richness. The barley evokes a subtle, earthy undercurrent, the scent of rain-soaked earth, whilst smoke underscores the other flavours without overwhelming them.

Finish:   Exceptionally long finish with sweet, toasted wood, baking spices, and a whisper of smoke. A final hint of fruit and a touch of sea-salt settle on the palate.

Please note: The Octomore range outer tins are extremely prone to dings and scratches. The tins often arrive into our warehouse suffering from minor damage in transit. This is out of our control. When we dispatch to our customers, we will re-pack to avoid further damage in transit but collectors should have reasonable expectations in this regard.
