Balvenie 40 Year Old Rare Marriages Single Malt Whisky

Part of the Rare Marriages Collection, this is the 40 Year Old from Balvenie. Using some of the rarest casks that have been carefully matured in Traditional American and European oak in their warehouses, Balvenie’s Honorary Ambassador and Former Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE crafts a richly sweet and refined expression.
This 40 Year Old Single Malt has the boldest character in the Rare Marriages whisky range.

Nose:    Rich and intensely fruity with a floral fragrance. There are notes of dried apricots, citrus and ginger spices with hints of vanilla and well integrated oak.

Taste:    Orange blossom, candied ginger and cinnamon and a honeyed sweetness, followed by oak, mouth coating vanilla notes and a delicate sherried fruitiness.

Finish:   Warm and elegant with a honeyed and citrus richness.

The Balvenie is a unique range of single malts created by David C. Stewart MBE, The Balvenie Malt Master. Their Core Range gains its distinctive character from maturation in two distinct cask types in succession, a proprietary process pioneered by David in 1983 with The Balvenie Classic. Each whisky has its own unique taste, but each is rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie.
Balvenie’s whisky-making process is dedicated to maintaining the Five Rare Crafts and it is the only distillery in Scotland that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both a coppersmith and a team of coopers on site.
