Macallan Boutique Collection 2017 Release Single Malt Whisky

The Macallan was one of the first distillers in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then, Macallan has built a reputation as one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies. The creation of The Macallan draws on the vital contributing influences of Spain, North America and Scotland - and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship.
The Macallan distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. The original name of the area was “Maghellan”, taken from the Gaelic word “magh”, meaning fertile ground and “Ellan”, from the Monk St.Fillan - who held a close association with the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had been making whisky on their Speyside farms in the area for centuries, using their surplus barley during the quieter winter months.

The 2017 release of The Macallan Boutique Collection, created exclusively to celebrate the opening of the first ever Macallan Boutique at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. It was originally released as a travel retail exclusive.
This bottle was drawn from a selection of matured casks reserved only for distinguished guests visiting Easter Elchies House which is the spiritual home of the Macallan.

Nose:   Candied fruit, toffee, some woody aroma, cinnamon powder, strong oily sense, a little alcohol sense.

Taste:    Sweet, with a little salty, rich candied fruit, some spice in the middle, cloves, cinnamon powder, no bitter bottom. Full-bodied, with an average sense of oil and a little bit of stubbornness.

Finish:    First, there are rich spices, dry wood, cloves, which last for a very long time, and some candied dates and a little longan come out later.
