Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength 2019 Release Single Malt Whisky
Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength 2019 Release
This is the 2019 release of the 25 Year Old from Laphroaig.
This Single Malt has been matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry casks for a quarter of a century, before being bottled at cask strength in 2019.
Nose: Iodine. Green apple juice, mildly toasted malt. Peat is mostly tamed, and no longer aggressive like its younger siblings. Smouldering applewood. Fresh Eastern spices poking at the back. A whiff of citrusy slowly intensified and ultimately took over the peat.
Taste: Peat is more pronounced here, making a return to the root of Laphroaig. Bourbon oak-led that's slightly bitter, in a good way. Powerful spices with cardamom, aniseeds and fennel seeds.
Finish: Long, typical Laphroaig finish. Ashtray with lingering peat. Oak spices, a touch of fruits and honey.
