Kilchoman Loch Gruinart Single Malt Whisky

Kilchoman Loch Gruinart Single Malt Scotch Whisky, initially released in 2020 as an exclusive bottling for a French supermarket. Continuing the tradition of naming their whiskies after landmarks near the distillery, “Loch Gruinart” is a sea loch on the northern coast of Islay.
Loch Gruinart was matured in both European and American oak casks, creating layers of rich fruit and butterscotch that balance with citrus sweetness and peat smoke character for which Kilchoman is famous.

Nose:    Very citrusy, pineapple juice, lychee, green apples, warm pear and peat smoke.

Taste:    Peat and smoke, with pepper, pineapple, apple, lemon and honey.

Finish:   Medium, slightly smoky, slightly fruity, with lingering vanilla.

Founded in 2005, Kilchoman was the first new distillery to be built on Islay in over 124 years. Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder, set out to resurrect the grass roots tradition of farm distilling. Their 100% Islay range represents the revival of those traditions, standing alone as Islay’s only Single Farm Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Kilchoman is a family run business, where the responsibility for quality and consistency is not outsourced but completed on-site with skill, care and attention to detail.
The parish of Kilchoman is home to some of Islay’s most fertile ground.  It is here, in the fields surrounding the distillery, where they grow an average of 200 tonnes of barley each year.
