Kilchoman Coull Point Single Malt Whisky

Kilchoman Coull Point Single Malt Scotch Whisky, initially released for the Travel Retail. Continuing the tradition of naming their whiskies after landmarks near the distillery, “Coull Point” is a rugged headland just half a mile north of Machir Bay.
The whisky is a vatting of 4 and 5 year old fresh ex-bourbon barrels, with the 4 year old being finished in Oloroso sherry butts for 4 weeks.

Nose:    Fresh citrus notes with peated malt, maritime notes and a hint of vanilla.

Taste:    Peat and smoke, with a note of white pepper. Fruity hints of lemon, pineapple, banana and roasted oranges. At the end woody notes with an herbal touch.

Finish:   Medium-long with notes of vanilla, fruity toffees and smoke.

Founded in 2005, Kilchoman was the first new distillery to be built on Islay in over 124 years. Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder, set out to resurrect the grass roots tradition of farm distilling. Their 100% Islay range represents the revival of those traditions, standing alone as Islay’s only Single Farm Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Kilchoman is a family run business, where the responsibility for quality and consistency is not outsourced but completed on-site with skill, care and attention to detail.
The parish of Kilchoman is home to some of Islay’s most fertile ground.  It is here, in the fields surrounding the distillery, where they grow an average of 200 tonnes of barley each year.
