Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select 2013 | Vintage Tennessee Whiskey
Step back into the rich heritage of Lynchburg distilling with the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select 2013 Tennessee Whiskey. Distilled at the historic Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, this vintage 2013 bottling represents a prized vintage artifact from the distillery's flagship single cask program. Hand-selected by Master Distiller Jeff Arnett and the elite tasting panel, only less than 1 in 100 barrels stored in the highest rafters of the brick warehouses are deemed worthy of carrying the Single Barrel Select label. Highly coveted by rare American whiskey collectors, vintage Jack Daniel's enthusiasts, and fine spirit investors, this allocated 2013 release offers a distinct snapshot of single-cask provenance.
Crafted from Jack Daniel’s signature mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye, every drop undergoes the legendary Lincoln County Process—mellowed drop-by-drop through 10 feet of hard sugar maple charcoal before entering new charred American white oak barrels. Perched in the uppermost levels of the barrel houses where extreme seasonal temperature swings force the whiskey deep into the wood grain, this 2013 vintage barrel developed an exceptionally dark copper hue and concentrated oil content. Bottled at an elevated strength of 90 Proof (45% ABV), it delivers an uncommonly bold, mouth-filling palate rich with toasted oak, burnt caramel, maple sweetness, and dark baking spices.
Vintage Single Cask Provenance & Maple Charcoal Charcoal Mellowing
The Top-Floor Barrel House Advantage: Barrels resting in the highest warehouse rafters experience maximum thermal expansion and contraction. This aggressive interaction with charred oak yields an intense depth of flavour and unique barrel-to-barrel variation, making this vintage 2013 bottling an essential addition to luxury home bars and collector displays.
Tasting Notes
- Aroma & Nose: Rich, deep, and inviting. Toasted oak, dark caramel, and vanilla bean open the bouquet, followed by hints of ripe red berries, banana bread, warm maple, and faint smoke.
- Palate & Flavour: Full-bodied, oily, and mouth-coating. Layers of butterscotch, burnt sugar, and dark chocolate merge seamlessly with rye spice, toasted nuts, cinnamon, and rich oak tannins.
- Finish: Long, warming, and complex. It concludes with lingering notes of peppered rye, sweet vanilla, charred oak, and a subtle citrus oil twist.
Sip Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select 2013 Tennessee Whiskey neat to dissect its single-cask maturity, or serve over a single large ice sphere to unlock deeper notes of sweet corn, vanilla cream, and maple oak.
