Highland Park 15 Year Old Fire Edition

The Fire Edition from Highland Park is a 15 Year Old Single Malt inspired by the Fire Giants of Viking mythology, and the destruction and subsequent rebirth of the Earth. Following on from Highland Park's ‘The Valhalla Collection’ Highland Park released a new Limited Edition two-part series in 2016, including The Ice Edition and The Fire Edition.
The Highland Park Fire was matured exclusively in refill Port-seasoned casks. The distinctive packaging, similar to that used for the Ice Edition, includes a red bottle designed to represent the ‘fierce and molten’ world of the Fire Giants, and a black wooden cradle.

Nose:    Intense aromas of ruby-red fruits, milk chocolate, and honey/caramel sweetness.

Taste:   Red berries, earthy notes, peppery spice and light smoke.

Finish:    Long and lingering finish, with earthy tones and light smoke.

Highland Park has been distilled since 1798, on the same site where their founder, Magnus Eunson, set up his original illicit still at High Park. Ten miles from the northernmost reaches of the Scottish Mainland lie the 70 or so islands that make up Orkney, only 20 of which are inhabited. The beautiful, yet isolated cluster of islands, is pounded relentlessly by winds that frequently reach speeds of over 100mph in the winter. No tree can survive such an onslaught, which means that their moorland peat is woodless but rich in fragrant heather, which give rise to the unique aromatic smokiness of their whisky. For over 220 years, they’ve smoked their barley over 4,000-year-old peat, hand-cut from Hobbister Moor, just 7 miles from the distillery.
