Glenmorangie The Vindima 16 Year Old

The Vindima 16 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Glenmorangie distillery, inspired by the island of Madeira’s grape harvest festival, known as “Vindima”. When the island’s grapes are ripe, the community unites to handpick the fruit, destined for Madeira wine. Once their work is done, the streets erupt with joyous celebrations.
The Vindima marries whisky aged in bourbon casks and whisky finished in Malmsey casks, the sweetest style of Madeira. Its packaging has been inspired by the tones of ripened grapes, with deep purple tones.

Nose:    Rich, mellow and honeyed, with soft notes of baked peaches and oranges, cocoa powder, creamy vanilla, along with some beautifully perfumed floral notes such as honeysuckle, jasmine and carnation.

Taste:    A viscous, syrupy texture leads into sumptuous flavours of candied orange peel, plump sultanas and milk-chocolate truffles, along with a hint of aniseed, and sizzling spices, like cinnamon, sweet chilli and clove. There are well-structured woody notes, like hazelnut and aromatic woodsmoke.

Finish:    Long, with some vinous grapey notes, reminiscent of the Malmsey Madeira casks.

Crafting Single Malt Whisky since 1843, when farmer William Matheson and his wife Anne followed their dreams and founded the Glenmorangie Distillery. Despite being owned by blenders, MacDonald & Muir, for most of the 20th century, Glenmorangie had an early focus on bottling its single malt. This became the distillery's main output in 1959, and with the unique flavours derived from Scotland's smallest stills, coupled with their pioneering use of wood finishing, Glenmorangie is now one of the world's biggest selling malts. As a result, the distillery portfolio over the years has been extensive, and little has been spared for independent bottlers.
