Bunnahabhain 15 Year Old Turas Math No.1 Fèis Ìle 2025
Part of the Westering Home Collection (a three-year series rooted in heritage, community and the journey home) from Bunnahabhain, this is Turas Math No.1 15 Year Old Single Malt, fully matured in Manzanilla & Amarone Cask Finish. This special limited bottling was released for Fèis Ìle 2025.
'Turas Math' is Scots Gaelic for the beginning of the journey. A journey full of anticipation, a sense of adventure and the promise of return to familiar shores. Just like a ship's voyage, Bunnahabhain’s journey begins with preparation: the finest Scottish barley, mineral-rich waters from the Margadale Spring, and hand-selected casks from Jerez and the Veneto region. Resting in Bunnahabhain’s coastal warehouses, these elements slowly transform, shaped by sea air, time, and tradition.
The spirit was first distilled in 2008, fully matured for 15 years in Manzanilla Sherry casks from Jerez, then expertly married with spirit that spent 10 years in refill casks, then finished for 5 years in Amarone wine casks, the result is a whisky of layered sweetness, subtle spice, and timeless complexity.
Nose: A burst of dark fruits: black cherries, plums, and blackberries, intertwined by cloves and roasted nuts.
Taste: Fresh cinnamon pastries and treacle toffee blend with hazelnut, dried figs, and soft herbal notes.
Finish: Warm spices linger on the palate, accented by a hint of sea spray.
Pronounced 'Bunn-na-ha-venn', meaning 'mouth of the river' in Scots Gaelic, our distillery is the most remote on Islay, nestled in Bunnahabhain Bay on the shores of the Sound of Islay. Bunnahabhain was built in 1881 by the Greenless Brothers and is still the most northern Distillery on the Isle of Islay.
Known for its unpeated whiskies, it stands out in a region famous for heavily peated malts. Renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and sherried character, Bunnahabhain distillery bottling range has many Whiskies ranging from the 12 Year Old to the 40 Year Old.
