Bruichladdich 31 Year Old 1991 Ralph Steadman x Cask 88

Bruichladdich 31 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Cask 2258 produced by Bruichladdich distillery and bottled by Cask 88. The whisky was distilled in 1991, matured for 31 years in a single refill hogshead and bottled in 2022.
This bottling is part of a series of whiskies made by Cask88 in collaboration with Britain's legendary illustrator Ralph Steadman, intended to take drinkers on a journey of Scotland's distilleries.
The illustration for this release was inspired by ‘The Art of Whisky – Malting’. A practice almost entirely lost to the annals of time; the by-hand floor malting process captured by Ralph Steadman’s illustration is being recommissioned at Bruichladdich distillery. This cask was selected for its incredible complexity and remarkable balance.
Only 125 bottles released.

    Nose:    Vanilla, lemon zest, cardamon.

Taste:    Champagne, grapefruit, almonds, black pepper.

Finish:    Long and dry, with sherbet and charred oak.

Note: Product has come from a private collection, minor markings are inevitable and collectors should have reasonable expectations in this regard.

Bruichladdich was built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, who owned the Dundashill and Yoker grain distilleries in Glasgow.
Unlike their neighbouring distilleries from the island of Islay, the Bruichladdich range is made without peat. Without the influence of smoke, they expose the brilliance of our raw ingredient – barley. Stepping further outside of whisky tradition, they have traced ingredients from origin to bottling, embracing every growing season, the subtlety of changing barley varietals and the methods applied in growing them.
