Bruichladdich 25 Year Old 1990 Artist 9 Peaty Cask Strength Single Cask 167

Part of the La Maison Du Whisky's Artist series, this is Bruichladdich 25 Year Old Artist #9 ‘Peated’release.
This Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1990, matured in a refill sherry butt single cask #167 and bottled in 2019 at cask strength. It was distilled just two years before Bruichladdich was mothballed in 1992; despite the name indicating an age of 25 years, the actual age is a minimum of 28 for this whisky.
For this release, the artwork on the label, was designed by Bang Hai Ja.
Only 483 bottles released.

Nose:    Smooth, light sherry, pear, black tea, vanilla, slightly peaty.

Taste:    Creamy vanilla, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and dark chocolate.

Finish:    Finishes long with almonds and spicy honey.

Bruichladdich was built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, who owned the Dundashill and Yoker grain distilleries in Glasgow.
Unlike their neighbouring distilleries from the island of Islay, the Bruichladdich range is made without peat. Without the influence of smoke, they expose the brilliance of our raw ingredient – barley. Stepping further outside of whisky tradition, they have traced ingredients from origin to bottling, embracing every growing season, the subtlety of changing barley varietals and the methods applied in growing them.
