Balvenie 19 Year Old The Week Of Peat Stories Collection

The Balvenie Stories collection is designed to bring to life the tales of 'character, endeavour and craft' of those at Balvenie through the generations.
The 19 Year Old The Week Of Peat is the story of Ian Millar using smoke from Speyside peat for one week of the year. This Limited Edition was created as a tribute to Balvenie Distillery’s Manager Ian Millar who started The Week of Peat tradition in 2002 - ‘making whisky the way it used to be made (using smoke from a heavily peated furnace, like in the very old days when every farm burned peat from the land and made whisky in a pot over the fire)’.

Nose:    Light peat, honey, gingerbread, pepper and toasted oak.

Taste:    Rich and earthy smoke reveals syrupy sweetness, fresh citrus, creamy vanilla and honey; and ends with a cinnamon and ginger spice.

    Finish:   Long and lingering.

The Balvenie is a unique range of single malts created by David C. Stewart MBE, The Balvenie Malt Master. Their Core Range gains its distinctive character from maturation in two distinct cask types in succession, a proprietary process pioneered by David in 1983 with The Balvenie Classic. Each whisky has its own unique taste, but each is rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie.
Balvenie’s whisky-making process is dedicated to maintaining the Five Rare Crafts and it is the only distillery in Scotland that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both a coppersmith and a team of coopers on site.
