Ardnamurchan Heritage Barley Release Single Malt Whisky

Ardnamurchan Heritage Barley Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, made from 100% unpeated Golden Promise malted barley, matured exclusively in ex-American bourbon barrels from 2018. Bottled at Cask Strength.

Nose:    Freshly opened milk chocolate digestive biscuits. Glacé cherries, lime cordial, a soft dusting of icing sugar on marzipan, apricot jam. Melted butter with acacia honey on sourdough toast. Salted preserved lemons. A whiff of long grass.

Taste:    Chewable, oily mouthfeel. The marzipan theme continues, with sugared almonds. More nuts: salted cashews and subtle pistachios. A gentle, creamy sweetness. Rich orange polenta cake. Baked cooking apples with fizzy lemonade. Peshwari naan filling.

Finish:   Oily, luscious and well-balanced. Medium length. Traces of soft orchard fruit, a sweet nuttiness and the last sip of espresso.

Ardnamurchan distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery on the Ardnamurchan peninsula of Lochaber in the Highlands, Scotland. The distillery is considered one of the remotest distilleries in Scotland and takes its name from the peninsula. The distillery was built and is owned by Adelphi, an independent bottling company.
Ardnamurchan is the first distillery in Scotland to rely entirely on locally sourced heat and power. The biomass boiler is supplied with woodchip from surrounding forestry, and the electricity comes from a hydro-electric generator on the river which also supplies its cooling water.
