Ardnamurchan AD/10 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

AD/10 10 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, an unpeated expression from Ardnamurchan distillery, released to celebrate their 10th anniversary. This expression was matured in 100% first-fill bourbon casks, and roughly half of the batch was subsequently finished, for over one year, in Champagne Paul Lanais barriques.
Only 15,000 bottles released.

Nose:    The nose opens with an overtly tropical offering; replete with ripe mangoes, pineapple cubes, lots of honey. There are baked bananas, brown sugar, figs, and wine gums. With time, develops into darker tones of crème caramel, toffee, and meringues with white chocolate.

Taste:    The theme of honey continues, backed up by linseed oil, warming spices, gingerbread, fresh pineapple, and cedar.

Finish:   Medium, oily, waxy, showing great depth.

Ardnamurchan distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery on the Ardnamurchan peninsula of Lochaber in the Highlands, Scotland. The distillery is considered one of the remotest distilleries in Scotland and takes its name from the peninsula. The distillery was built and is owned by Adelphi, an independent bottling company.
Ardnamurchan is the first distillery in Scotland to rely entirely on locally sourced heat and power. The biomass boiler is supplied with woodchip from surrounding forestry, and the electricity comes from a hydro-electric generator on the river which also supplies its cooling water.
