Ardbeg Smoketrails - Manzanilla Edition 1L Single Malt Whisky

Ardbeg Distillery (Scottish Gaelic: Taigh-stail Àirde Beaga) is a distillery in Ardbeg on the south coast of the isle of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, in the Inner Hebrides group of islands.
The distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, and produces a heavily peated Islay whisky.  The distillery uses malted barley sourced from the maltings in Port Ellen.
The Ardbeg distillery has been producing whisky since 1798 and began commercial production in 1815.

Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition, the first of the series. There is a marriage of the classic Ardbeg American Oak cask with Manzanilla Sherry Casks all the way from Sanlucar De Barrameda, Spain, to create deeper pungent flavours.

Nose:    Lemon peel. Gentle smoke, not too peaty, more bonfire than medical. Some fruity notes.

Taste:    Sweet, toffee notes, milk chocolate, then the citric notes from the nose are coming back. Smoke is rather gentle.

Finish:    Long. Now reconcilable peaty, yet sweet.
