Amrut Double Cask 3rd Edition June 2017 Indian Single Malt Whisky

Part of the Double Cask series from Amrut, this Indian Single Malt Whisky is the 3rd Edition.
Made from Scottish peated barley, it was matured in ex-bourbon barrel #3190 (distilled in May 2012) and port pipe #2716 (distilled in Mar 2012). It was bottled in June 2017, with only 900 bottles released.

    Nose:    Chocolate, vanilla, ash, sunflowers, currant and raisins.

    Taste:    Ash, peach, brown sugar, raisin and malt.

    Finish:   Long, with ginger, raisin, plum, salt, chocolate, brown sugar and lemon peel.

Amrut Distilleries is an Indian company, founded by the late Mr. Radhakrishna Jagdale in 1948, the group initially started as a small liquor blending and bottling unit. The word ‘Amrut’ derives its origin from the historic language of Sanskrit and means the ‘Elixir of Life’.
Amrut distillery is best known for its eponymous Amrut brand of single malt whisky, which is the first single malt whisky to be made in India. The brand became famous after world famous whisky connoisseur Jim Murray gave it a rating of 82 out of 100 in 2005 and 2010. In 2010, Murray named Amrut Fusion single malt whisky as the third best in the world. Amrut Distilleries is based in the South Indian city of Bangalore.
