Aberlour Casg Annamh Batch 0008 Single Malt Whisky

Translating as ‘Rare Cask’ in Gaelic, Casg Annamh is a distinctively rich Single Malt providing sweet and rich notes. The Aberlour Casg Annamh series emphasizes a special selection of casks, highlighting the distillery's commitment to crafting unique expressions. This is Batch 0008, released in 2023. It was matured in three types of casks: European oak sherry casks and two different types of American oak casks.

Nose:    Aromatic and voluminous with a rich orange note at the forefront, followed by dark sherry fruits, lighter notes of cherries, and a hint of light spiciness.

Taste:    Begins with sweet apple and peaches, transitioning to intense tannins and spiciness from the European oak.

Finish:    The aftertaste includes liquorice, cinnamon, and long-lasting, softer spicy notes.

Aberlour is a distillery of Speyside located in Aberlour, Strathspey, Scotland at the confluence of the rivers Lour and Spey near Ben Rinnes. Rather than boasting about the distinctive qualities of his single malt, Aberlour’s founder, James Fleming remained true to his family’s motto since the days of Robert the Bruce, ‘Let the deed show.’ The proof is in the drinking.
Aberlour’s truly unique taste is derived from two fundamentally important ingredients: pure, soft water of the Ben Rinnes and barley, grown within 15 miles of the distillery. Most of the variants are aged in American ex-bourbon casks, a standard for many single malts Aberlour also releases a range of malts that, after aging in bourbon casks, are finished in casks previously used to mature varieties of fortified wines or sherries, a method applied to appeal particularly to the French market.
