Glenturret 7 Year Old Peat Smoked 2022 Release Single Malt Whisky

Originally owned by Sir Patrick Murray of Ochtertyre, The Glenturret Distillery is mentioned in the purchase records of the Barony of Ochtertyre as far back as 1763. Today, the distillery still nestles in its original location on the edge of the historic town of Crieff. Known locally as ‘The Hosh’ (Gaelic for ‘the foot’) – it is a picturesque and secluded setting at the foot of green rolling hills in the lower glen overlooking the river Turret.
Glenturret’s dedication to traditional handcrafted Whisky Making, slow batch production, and an unusually slow distillation in hand-beaten copper stills combine to influence and underpin the unique character of their new make spirit. It is a spirit that they can nurture and enrich over time; that will work with the wood, not against it; a spirit shaped by hand and heart.

The beautiful, rugged surroundings of Glenturret’s distillery have inspired smoke-filled aromas and flavours found in The Glenturret 7 Years Old Peat Smoked. American oak sherry seasoned casks build the confectionery sweetness from the new make spirit whilst delicate refill casks deliver the abundant smoky notes. Akin to the comforting shelter from a warm highland bothy on the fresh Loch Turret hills, the whisky’s peated character heightens and amplifies from the outside in.

Nose:     Robust peat smoke and sweet dried fruits welcome the way for salted almonds and sweet, candied oranges.

Taste:     Earthy, with hearty wood smoke and vegetal peat balanced by biscuity malt, butterscotch, and zesty marmalade.

Finish:    Oily notes of tobacco and charcoal, chocolate Brazil nuts, and spiced coffee.
